Caroline Burrows

Clinical Social Worker and Psychotherapist / Practice Director

Caroline is a Clinical Social Worker and Psychotherapist (Medicare Provider). She is the Director of Mindful Living. She has experience providing therapeutic services in a range of community, hospital, university and private settings. Caroline specialises in the treatment of anxiety, trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in adults and adolescents. She is an Accredited EMDR Practitioner and Consultant (Supervisor). She frequently completes assessments for the Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal. Caroline is also trained in couple therapy and experienced in working with military veterans and their families. In addition to private practice, Caroline is a Senior Social Worker at two private mental health hospitals where she coordinates the first inpatient EMDR program to have been developed in Victoria. Outside of work Caroline is an animal lover and enjoys walking her dogs, laughing and sharing meals with friends and family.

Travers Holbrook

Counsellor / Practice Manager

Travers is a Counsellor and the Practice Manager of Mindful Living. Commencing his journey with telephone counselling, he has more recently worked in education and community health settings. Travers has a particular interest in the treatment of trauma and is an experienced EMDR therapist. Additionally, Travers has a keen and professional interest in the mental health of those in the LGBTIQ community, as well as individuals with alcohol and other drug concerns. When not engaged with continuing study, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, sharing a meal, going to the movies, and playing with his dog.

Kate Formston

Counsellor and Psychotherapist

Kate is a Counsellor and Psychotherapist with experience in a range of community, mental health, hospital and family therapy roles. She is an experienced EMDR therapist and has worked extensively with clients suffering from PTSD, complex trauma and dissociation. She has a particular interest in the impact of trauma on sexuality. Kate is trained in a range of evidence-based trauma therapies including EMDR, Havening Techniques, Structural Dissociation and Internal Family Systems. She is also an experienced mindfulness group facilitator. Kate provides counselling to adults and adolescents. In addition to private practice, she works as a Counsellor/Advocate at a sexual assault counselling service. When Kate isn't working, she enjoys martial arts, personal fitness, being outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

Jacqui Hibberd

Psychologist

Jacqui is an EMDR trained psychologist who has worked with children, adolescents and adults experiencing a range of concerns including depression, anxiety, family and relationship issues, stress, grief and loss. She also has a strong interest in working with people who have experienced trauma. Jacqui strongly believes in taking a warm, empathetic and holistic approach to therapy, with the aim of working collaboratively with clients to build a trusting therapeutic relationship and to improve their overall wellbeing. In addition to private practice, Jacqui works with children and adolescents in a school setting. Outside of work, Jacqui loves spending time outdoors, baking and going to the football.

Thea Baker

Counsellor and Psychotherapist

Thea has an extensive background in women’s health and wellbeing and has worked extensively with women who have suffered traumatic births, recovery from births and more generally the adjustment to motherhood, to help heal and recover both physically and emotionally. In addition to her clinical therapy work, she also works as a movement specialist and health and wellbeing coach, running her own safe and inclusive space to process trauma somatically and explore health and wellbeing. Thea is an EMDR trained therapist and has a special interest in working holistically, finding creative ways to combine physical and mental health, believing that movement, mindfulness and sound mental health practices all help create balance in a person’s life.

Monica Karst

Monica is a Counsellor, Social Worker and EMDR Therapist. She has extensive experience working with trauma survivors (including survivors of sexual abuse and family violence), as well as providing therapeutic services in hospitals, community services, prisons and not-for-profit organisations. She is clinically trained in a range of evidence-based and emerging therapies, including Havening Techniques, EMDR and mindfulness practices. Her specialty is supporting children, adolescents and adults to recover from anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). She strives to help clients leave their distress in the past so they can go on to live the lives they wish. Outside of work, Monica enjoys running, yoga, reading and cooking elaborate meals for friends and family from her garden.

Jessica Gardner

Clinical Social Worker and Family Therapist

Jess is a Clinical Social Worker, EMDR Therapist and Family Therapist with experience in private practice, community organisations and schools. She is a friendly and down to earth therapist who works with clients of all ages, with a special interest in working with children, adolescents and their families.  Whatever the challenge that brings people to counselling, Jess works collaboratively with clients and their strengths to see them thrive. Jess has a special interest in trauma and draws on systemic and integrative frameworks which consider individuals in the context of their family, community and broader systems.  Jess utilises approaches such as EMDR, family therapy, play therapy, and solution-focused therapy. Jess enjoys good books, the beach and growing veggies to share.

Nicles Bestel

Nicles is a Counsellor, Psychotherapist and EMDR therapist who has experience working in a variety of counselling, community mental health and school wellbeing settings. Nicles has a particular interest in working with trauma and dissociation. In addition to private practice, Nicles provides counselling and support to children, adolescents and families in a school setting. She is warm, non-judgemental and gentle in her counselling approach. Nicles has a strong commitment to ongoing professional development and is currently completing a Master of Clinical Psychology. Outside of work, Nicles loves spending time with family and friends, reading, walking her dogs and running.

Jay McCabe

Jay is a Provisional Psychologist who works in the Low Cost Counselling Service at Mindful Living. He brings a caring, empathetic and collaborative approach, believing that the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for successful therapy. His training has encompassed a range of approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Person-Centred Therapy. He is committed to ongoing professional development and further developing his therapeutic skills. Jay works with adults and adolescents, with a special interest in the mental health of those in the LGBTIQ community and supporting young people through the challenges of adolescence. When he isn’t working, Jay enjoys improvisational comedy and alternative music spanning many genres.
