Caroline Burrows - Director

MCouns/Psychotherapy, GradDipPsychotherapy, BSW, AMHSW, MACSW, EMDRAA

Caroline is a Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Clinical Social Worker (Medicare Provider). She has experience providing therapeutic services in a range of community, hospital, university and private settings. Caroline specialises in the treatment of anxiety, trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in adults and adolescents. She is an Accredited EMDR Practitioner and Consultant (Supervisor). She frequently completes assessments for the Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal. Caroline is also trained in couple therapy and experienced in working with military veterans and their families. In addition to private practice, Caroline is employed as the EMDR Program Coordinator at a private mental health hospital. Outside of work Caroline is an animal lover and enjoys walking her dogs, yoga, laughing and sharing meals with friends and family.

Irina Shnaider

H.BA. Psychology, M.S.W, R.S.W

Irina is a Clinical Social Worker and Psychotherapist (Medicare Provider). She has experience working in family violence, trauma, addictions and mental health in community and hospital settings in both Australia and Canada. She is an experienced EMDR therapist and is also trained in a variety of mindfulness-based psychological therapies that can help clients restore balance in their lives and realise their potential to live fulfilling, happy lives. She is also a trauma-sensitive yoga practitioner. At Mindful Living Irina provides counselling to adults, couples, children and adolescents, including victims of crime. Outside of work, she enjoys yoga, personal fitness, travel and spending time with family and friends.

Helen Werts

BA (Psych), Grad Dip (Psych), M(Psych), MAPS, EMDRAA

Helen brings decades of lived experience as an Emergency First Responder to her professional life as a trauma-informed Psychologist. She has a strong interest in evidence-based trauma interventions, including EMDR Therapy and Somatic Experiencing. Helen works with children through to mature adults who are presenting with a range of issues including trauma, depression, anxiety and stress. She strongly believes in early intervention, psycho-education and empowering children and adults alike to make choices that enable them to overcome challenges and enhance their quality of life. Outside of work, Helen enjoys going to the movies, pottery, Sunday markets and entertaining friends and family.

Travers Holbrook

Travers is a Counsellor and Provisional Psychologist. Commencing his journey with telephone counselling, he has more recently worked in education and community health settings. Travers has a particular interest in the treatment of trauma and is an experienced EMDR therapist. Additionally, Travers has a keen and professional interest in the mental health of those in the LGBTIQ community, as well as individuals with alcohol and other drug concerns. When not engaged with continuing study, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, sharing a meal, going to the movies, and playing with his dog.

Kate Formston

Kate is a Counsellor and Psychotherapist with experience in a range of community, mental health, hospital and family therapy roles. She is an experienced EMDR therapist, has worked extensively with clients suffering from trauma and PTSD (including victims of crime), and has a particular interest in the impact of trauma on sexuality. She is a qualified and experienced mindfulness group facilitator and enjoys inspiring people to incorporate mindfulness into their everyday lives. Kate provides counselling to adults and adolescents. In addition to private practice, she works as a Counsellor/Advocate at a sexual assault counselling service. When Kate isn't working she enjoys martial arts, personal fitness, being outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
